Aquatic Achievers FAQs

Why is it important for children to learn to swim?

Learning to swim is an important skill for children of all ages, as it will allow them to confidently handle the water – whether it be a in a backyard pool, along Moreton Bay, or otherwise. Learning these skills at a young age can significantly reduce the risk of drowning, which is unfortunately, one of the leading causes of death in Australia.

However, learning to swim goes beyond developing an important life-saving skill; it is a low impact form of physical activity and allows children to develop self-confidence, independence, and social skills. Our swimming classes will also be one of the first introductions to an engaging, interactive learning environment for your children – getting them ready for their school years!

How often should we be attending lessons?

Learning to swim is like any other skill – it comes down to frequency and consistency, particularly for children. The more often your children are in the pool under the right tuition; the more confident, comfortable, and strong they will become.

For very young children, we recommend swimming lessons at least once per week to kick start their learn-to-swim journey and instil basic water safety lessons.

What age groups do you work with?

We have 14 level program at Aquatic Achievers Aspley – catering for children as young as 3 months old, through to about 12 years of age. Our program is predominantly skills based, which means that children can progress at their own speed. Some developmental factors will come with age; but for the most part, we work on helping our Little Achievers to progress as confidently as they can.
