Make your lessons work for you.
Writer – Carla Washbourne
Do we ever find the true rhythm of juggling work and raising children? I got thinking as to how I could make things smoother for my family, before yet another grey hair appeared.
March has arrived and the year is in full swing. When it comes to swimming lessons, it’s so important for me to enjoy this experience with my young son. This meant I needed to find a time that was going to work for us and our crazy life. I went to the team next visit and said I needed options, lots of them. Let’s find a way to avoid the after school shuffle, battles with traffic, as well having a ’hangry’ child trying to learn.
So after some consideration I scheduled my booking on a weekday morning. This change really worked for me. I found my son was calmer and more focused, while also kick starting his mind ready for the school day ahead. I’ve also found these lessons to be somewhat quieter than afternoons, a great help for engaging with the lesson better.
Some food for thought perhaps? Here’s a few tips from my research:
1. Plan for the long term. Odd things will come up and you may need to miss a couple of lessons, though solutions like the ‘Lifestyle Hold’ will help reduce the impact of these occasions.
2. Never say never. The team are willing to work with you to get that perfect time slot. It may be full now, but they should have you in there in no time.
3. Ask for help. My Grandmother quotes ‘If you need help with something, you will never know the answer until you ask the question’. The Team will work to find a solution for you, just ask!
