Teaching swimming requires a special set of skills, including a passion for working with children, excellent communication, and a willingness to learn. If you have the right attitude and enthusiasm, Aquatic Achievers will help you gain a Nationally recognised Swim Teacher Qualification.

Exceptional teacher training program

Whether you are starting out, experienced or looking for a career change, all staff undergo our extensive and innovative Teacher Training Program. We provide free of charge 30+ hours of in-house training–including class observation, online theory and supervised training–all before you teach your own class.

This pre-employment training is held at our swim schools and helps you obtain a nationally recognised accreditation that all swim teachers must have. For trainees it saves time, money and hassle.

Who should apply?

You must be at least 16-years-old (or about to turn 16 at a minimum) to qualify. We are a diverse team and welcome people from all walks of life. Our casual roles are suited to parents, students, carers, teachers and others looking to supplement their income. You don’t need previous experience. We believe in finding the right people and training them to be their best.

Other considerations

Our shifts generally operate between 9.00 and 11.30am, and 3.30 to 6.00pm weekdays, and 8:00am to 1:00pm on weekends. Consistency is an important factor to teaching kids to swim, so you must be able to commit to regular shifts.

You must be able to demonstrate an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children. A Working with Children check is required before starting training.

Wondering what a typical day looks like as a swim teacher? Here’s a sneak peek:

• Pre-Shift: Arrive at the pool, review the set lesson plan, and get ready to help babies and children learn essential swimming skills.
• Morning Shifts: Work with babies and preschoolers in a fun, nurturing environment, guiding them through water safety and foundational skills.
• Afternoon Shifts: Teach children of all ages, helping them improve their swimming skills and celebrating every milestone.

Swim teacher shifts typically last 3-4 hours on weekday mornings and afternoons. Weekend shifts are longer, and we offer an enhanced pay rate to reflect the extra commitment.
