At what age should my children start swimming?

Kids should be starting to swim as early as possible. We offer swimming lessons to children as young as 4-months old. Between the ages of 4-months and 3-years old, our swimming lessons teach essential skills that build confidence, safety awareness, and get them comfortable in a structured learning environment. We then progressively increase skill, distance and time swimming to enable swimmers to be stronger, smoother swimmers through our learn to swim and stroke development programs, which are challenging yet fun!

In our 30-years of experience, we have developed a deep understanding that fostering strong swimming skills starts from a young age.

What are the benefits of learning to swim?

Beyond learning an important skill (staying safe in the water), learning to swim is a fun activity that can benefit children of all ages. Swimming is low-impact exercise that promotes cardiovascular health, improves endurance, and builds overall strength. For kids, learning to swim is also a great way to introduce a classroom style environment where they can socialise with other kids, engage with a friendly instructor, and conquer set achievements!

Yes – all of our instructors are certified by one of Australia’s leading industry partners, Austswim. All Alexandria teachers have undergone a comprehensive learn-to-swim training course and regularly undergo refresher courses, workshops, and recertification to ensure we’re always working with up-to-date best practices across all swimming lessons.
